MAY I PRESENT JORDAN RHODES...
SO........HERE WE GO..............LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT IS MY PLEASURE TO INTRODUCE MY FRIEND AND AWESOME ACTOR/ WRITER, JORDAN RHODES!!
DEBORAH: I can't tell you how honored I am to have you here on my blog to help me celebrate today's release of The Banished One, book 3 in my vampire series The Undeparted. I appreciate you taking the time with me.
JORDAN: Debbie, thanks for asking me to do an interview on your blog. It’s a first for me. As an old war horse actor/writer, all this new technology does amaze me. Happy to hear that you now have the release of your third book in the Vampire Series. As you know, I like the books, and being an actor with a love of the creative side of films & theatre, I believe your books would make very entertaining films and it would make a terrific TV series. Have you thought of pursuing this avenue for this series of books?
DEBORAH: We've talked about the mystery books for TV, but we never did discuss this series. You know me well enough to know my answer is a big, fat I WISH!
DEBORAH: There's always a role for you Jordan, if I am ever lucky enough to have a film of any of my books.
JORDAN: Well, that's good to know, Debbie! How about telling us about The Banished One?
The Banished One ( BUY NOW )
is about a serial killer vampire who can't be captured because he's an immortal. He can vanish at will, has superhuman strength, so Lieutenant Welby knows he's going to need another immortal to take The Banished One AKA Lucius, down. So Welby follows the old town rumors about Quentin being the father of all vampires, right up to Quentin's gothic castle to ask for his aid in capturing the vampire killer! There are flashback scenes in this novel that take us back to the 1200's when Quentin and Christian met. These scenes take place via an old ancestral journal that Welby is reading. I think it's a pretty neat way of taking a peek into the past.
JORDAN: I love that originality. Speaking of how Quentin & Christian met, you should let the readers know how we were fortunate enough to meet and have even co-written a script together.

DEBORAH: Great idea! But before I tell everyone how we met, I want to say this: I'm a fan who has a great deal of admiration for your lifelong career in acting and now as a writer; I've seen you a thousand times on TV and on the screen and loved you in so many roles, for instance
as Lieutenant Harmon Andrews on Matlock, as Senator MacMurphy in All The Kings Men, and as Ernest Hemingway in your play and film PAPA, just to name a few out of the numerous roles in your illustrious career.
I know that others have seen you too and even though some people may not have realized your career has been so impressive, they're definitely going to connect the dots now, just as soon as they take a look at your resume.
Now, where was I? Oh yes, how we met…
Jordan and I met through a mutual friend; Jordan got wind of my books and read my mystery/thriller Edge of Darkness. He wrote a blurb for me about it that was just so awesome and kind. I'm going to brag a little right now. Here's what he said: "Edge of Darkness is a taut suspenseful Detective thriller laced with humor that reminds one of the wit displayed by the character of Lenny from Law & Order. It's an interesting read that would easily translate to film as it conveys visuals to the reader. For every Mickey Spillane fan out there - Mickey's back - only he's a female and her name is Deborah Palumbo."
JORDAN: Well I meant everything that was written!
DEBORAH: Thanks so much; I really appreciate that! As you said a minute ago, we cowrote a screenplay together.
JORDAN: It was fun to work
with you on the script - now as always, if we could just find the money, we
could make the film. You know how difficult it is to raise funds for film. I’m
still trying to raise the needed funds to open the Hemingway film in NYC for a
limited run of one week, and haven’t been able to accomplish that as of yet.
DEBORAH: Well I was fortunate enough to see PAPA and you were absolutely fantastic in it as was Lynn Moore. In fact, PAPA was the winner of The NY International Independent Film Festival Award as Best Historical Drama is the filmed version of the critically acclaimed play.
JORDAN: Now if we could just
get everyone out there that is reading this interview to contact Peter Gaffney
at The History Channel in NYC and insist that they broadcast my Hemingway film,
PAPA “the man, the myth, the legend”, and to get all their friends to do the
same, then they would all have an opportunity to see the award winning film.
DEBORAH: HEY, THAT'S A CHALLENGE IF I EVER HEARD ONE! Let's do it everyone. Let's contact Peter Gaffney at the History Channel in NYC and insist they broadcast the film PAPA. Please comment back folks, if you've done this.
DEBORAH: Well, let's give everyone a small tatse of PAPA, shall we? Check out THIS YOU TUBE TRAILER!
JORDAN: I
enjoyed performing the play version all across the country, and really was
excited to do the film version.
DEBORAH: Speaking of the film version, Jordan has generously donated to our giveaway today! A lucky winner will win a DVD copy of his film PAPA!
DEBORAH: That is sooo
exciting!! And I LOVE the picture for it; it's absolutely spooky, but inviting spooky. You know you're going to get a real scare there, but you want to enter that door! I can't wait to see the House of Good and Evil, Jordan! I know everyone here
will want to see the movie too, I hope. And you'll have to keep me updated on the NEW film
you're starting this month. Hey, would you tell us how you became an actor?
JORDAN: I’m not sure the readers have enough time to
read all that was involved with me becoming an actor. I’m in the process, and have been for some
time, of writing my autobiography, but I will give you a brief, “how I became
an actor”. As a little boy, I always
wanted to be a “cowboy”. Of course the
kind of cowboy I wanted to be was a movie cowboy. Growing up in the country in the South, a
movie cowboy was my only reference to a cowboy.
I truly believe the “acting bug” bit me when a 7th grade
teacher cast me in a school play that was touring schools, The Adventures of
Tom Sawyer. She wanted me to do
Tom. Of course I didn’t want to have
anything to do with “acting in some dumb play” - but she had a very interesting
way to bribe me. No homework as long as
I rehearsed, and she cast the young girl I had a crush on to play Tom’s
girlfriend. From there, and much later
in life, I won a scholarship to an acting/arts school in Baltimore MD, got
roles in plays in the area and moved on to NY, where I struggled like most
young actors, and finally got some roles in off-Broadway, summer stock, some
small roles in the TV industry that was in NY at the time, then I moved to L.A.
and begin to audition and get roles in TV & films. Forty years later - here I am!
DEBORAH: That is an amazing
story, a real success story. Not many people can say they've been in show
business for 40 years! After your current film, you think you have room for
one more just in case Detective McAllister in When The Temperature Rises takes off, you know my crime noir,
1948 vintage detective?
JORDAN: Well you certainly
know the way to an actor's heart. Yes, I would be up to playing McAllister.
Would love it! And what about something in The Undeparted
series?
DEBORAH: Why Jordan I didn't
know you like to bite! But speaking of the series, I am totally psyched about
The Banished One. I spiced it up a bit,it's a little erotic, did flashback scenes, and now I'm
really anxious for the fans of the series to give me their feedback!
JORDAN: You've added a couple
of new characters to the series, right?
DEBORAH: Yes, I have: Lieutenant Hamilton Welby and the coroner Doc McMahon. It is still the same mystery/ romance series, but because of some romantic scenes, it is for 18+. I thought it was about time that the readers who've connected with the series and the characters peeked into the bedchambers and saw what was happening with their favorite characters!
JORDAN: You're going to make me blush! But I will read it for sure! Is there a book 4?
DEBORAH: I am definitely writing book 4 in the The Undeparted series. The storyline has already been conceived; I've even got the name! There will be more flashbacks with Quentin and Christian From THE UNDEPARTED and delving into Quentin's lurid past; we'll meet a woman scorned by Quentin, and you know what they say about a woman scorned! But I'm getting ahead of myself. People have to read book 1, 2 and now 3, The Banished One!
JORDAN: Send me an autographed copy will you?
DEBORAH: Of course, you flatterer.
I wish you much success and happiness and best wishes with ALL of your awesome projects. I can't thank you enough for being here! I know how busy you are, so I'm letting you scoot out of here now. I want everyone to check out your sites and hopefully, one day soon, they can all watch PAPA on DVD and film!
JORDAN: Thanks for asking me to do the interview with you. Much good luck and continued success to you as well. I hope everyone will give The Undeparted series a read!
DEBORAH: Thanks for your wishes. I'm hoping the fans of The Undeparted really love this new book and love where the series is going, and for new readers, I'm anxious to make fans out of them!
BYE EVERYONE, and thanks for spending time here on my blog!
